You need to have your first draft of your animation DONE for Tuesday November 10th. We will share your rough draft with the class.
Your FINAL version needs to be done for Thursday November 12. Below is the rubric you will be grade on. Have the sound track for your animation complete by class on Saturday 10/31/15. You will begin working on your animation in class.
There will be a demo in both Garage Band and iMovie in class on Tuesday to show techniques for how to animate your own work. Before we jump into Garage Band and iMovie, you need to thoroughly plan out what you what to do. So, your first step is to create a layout in Photoshop that is almost a "digital sketch" of your idea. Weather you chose a poem, an excerpt from a book or a song lyric, you will now begin to plan out additional sounds to add to your soundtrack for your 10-30 second animation. Essentially we are beginning our "story boarding" process. You will have a week to work on this planning. So, first, jump into photoshop and start "sketching" Below is an example of my "digital Sketch" "...the proportions of reciprocal sharing, nature's own golden proportions, are built into our own nature, into our bodies and minds which are, after all, part of nature. The basic pattern-forming process of nature, which have shaped the human hand and mind, can continue to guide whatever the hand and mind are shaping, when the hand and mind set true to nature." -excerpt from The Power of Limits: Proportional Harmonies in Nature, Art & Architecture by Gyorgy Doczi. Imagery/ Text
How can creating a custom soundtrack bring the presentation and sharing of your imagery to the next level of expression?
Visual expression of a lyric from your favorite song or poem in Photoshop, editing sound in garage band and then moving into iMovie You will need a segment of a song or of a poem that adds up to 10-20 seconds. Your job is to first make one visual representation of this song/poem in Photoshop. You will edit the Then you will create a series of images that you will place in iMovie to illustrate this sound. Skills learned: Garageband Importing music Recording sound Sound Effects Cutting sound Exporting mp3 iMovie importing imagery changing transitions adding text Have your sound lyric/ poem selected for our next class on Tuesday 10/20 Today we will begin our observation on the impact of sound in digital media. We will watch a variety of examples of how sound is used to send a digital message. You will take notes in your journal on the impact of sound and begin to prepare for making your first sound track to pair with images related to your favorite self portrait. We will eventually move into video and a larger sound/ documentary project.

(AT LEAST 5 things) Now, Based on what you've observed, choose one of your self portraits that you want to continue to develop the idea further. Eventually you will create an animated/documentary video segment about this portrait. What sounds will you want to include? How will these sounds enhance/ showcase your vision? What type of feeling do you want your viewer to experience? 1)Underneath your notes about the article Write an 8-10 sentence response to the questions above. 2) Find a video online (YouTube or any other source that is appropriate) and send a link to a video to Mrs. Graham. How is sound used in this video? Is it effective? What type of feelings/ emotions are evoked from the sounds? 2nd portrait due Thursday October 8th SEND FINAL JPG TO MRS. GRAHAM AT THE END OF CLASS AND YOU WILL SELF GRADE YOUR RUBRIC AT THE END OF CLASS 3rd portrait due at the end of class on Wednesday October 14 |
